About Sandra
Sandra has always had a passion for figure drawing and portraiture. After starting her creative career in the fashion industry, gaining a Diploma in Fashion and Textiles, she went on to completing a visual communication and design foundation course at Wellington Polytech.
Sandra has attended various workshops for sculpture and life drawing both here and in the U.S.A. and is a past member of the Hutt Art Society specialising in life portrait painting.
Sandra has successfully completed many portrait commissions of people, pets and urban landscapes, and continues to attend regular life drawing sessions.
Over recent years, Sandra has stylised her paintings, working mainly in acrylics using a small palette of colours to suit the clients' décor.
"The aim of my paintings is to not only portray a good likeness, but also to capture the subject's emotions. I work from sketches and photographs. My inspiration comes from my loving family and the beauty of the area in which we live."
